    [문화] Ounjian, 베토벤 ‘운명’ 선보여
    (Denver = Wongeol Jeong) ‘운명은 이처럼 문을 두드린다.’ Symphony 5번을 작곡하고 베토벤이 한 말이다. 당시 베토벤은 30대 중반이었다. 그의 귀는 점점 나빠졌다. 그리고 프랑스의 나폴레온이 빈을 점령했다. 흔히 말하는 난세였다. 총 4악장으로 구성된 Symphony No.5 '운명‘은 빠르고 격정적인, 그리고 힘있는 음색으로 이어진다. 결코 평범하지 않은 운명인 것이다. 이미 너무나도 익숙한 멜로디지만, 듣는 이로 하여금 빠져들게 하는 마력을 가지고 있음이 분명하다. 1악장은 호른의 독주에 이어 바이올린, 클라리넷, 플롯이 이어진다. 너무도 유명한 멜로디다. 운명의 비장함에 몸이 떨려올 정도다. 얼마나 비정한 운명이기에, 이토록 비장하단 말인가... 이어지는 부드러운 선율은, 삶의 역경 뒤에 이어지는 일종의 ‘기쁨’ 같은 것을 표현한다. 그러나 그것도 잠시뿐이다. 운명은 인간을 가만히 놔두지 않는 것이다. 교향곡 ‘운명’은 비장함과 부드러움을 넘나들면서 사람의 ‘인생’을 표현하고 있었다. 때로는 비정하게, 때로는 부드럽게... 이것이 당시 삼십대 중반의 베토벤이 느끼는 인생 이었나보다. 비록 귀는 점점 들리지 않았지만, 그의 음악에 대한 열정은 불타올랐다. 그리고 그것이 훌륭한 작품을 탄생시키는 원동력이 됐다. 베토벤의 Symphony No.5가 이토록 다채로울 수 있었던 이유는, 그의 운명이 다채로웠던 까닭일 것이다. 역경은 예술을 풍요롭게 하는 원동력이 되기도 하는 것이다.

In the bottom of the 1st inning, Colorado took a 1-0 lead against Chicago as leadoff batter Blackmon touched home plate on a sacrifice hit by Jones. In the top of the 3rd inning, Chicago tied the game at 1-1 as Yan Gomes scored on a single by Nick Madrigal. Blackmon's fielding skills shone as he made a remarkable catch, leaping to catch Nico Hoerner's hit and adding to the out count. The Rockies only allowed 1 run in the 3rd inning. In the top of the 5th inning, Christopher Morel's home run gave Chicago a 2-1 lead. In the following 6th inning, Yan Gomes' single allowed Cody Bellinger to score, making it 3-1. However, Seiya Suzuki, who followed Bellinger, was tagged out at home by catcher Elias Diaz. Colorado turned the game around in the 7th inning. Hunter Goodman set the stage for the comeback. Goodman followed Wicks and connected with Cuas' 89-mile changeup, sending it over the third baseman for a hit, bringing Elias Diaz home. Colorado quickly succeeded in scoring 2 runs as Brenton Doyle, who came to bat after Goodman, hit a single. With Montero and Goodman both touching home plate, Colorado successfully turned the game around to 4-3 with Doyle's hit. The goddess of victory smiled upon Chicago. In the top of the 9th inning, the first batter, Dansby Swanson, doubled against Tyler Kinley, who replaced Justin Lawrence on the mound. Next up to bat, Ian Happ walked to first base after drawing a walk. The hero of the game was catcher Yan Gomes. Gomes connected with Kinley's 97-mile fastball with a line drive towards second base. Gomes brought in Dansby Swanson and Ian Happ, successfully turning the game to 5-4 in favor of Chicago. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Drew Smyly held off Colorado's last offensive effort with a scoreless inning, sealing Chicago's 5-4 victory. Colorado and Chicago are scheduled to have the second game of the series at Coors Field tomorrow, the 12th.
